On May 21st, 2026, we held the 33rd session of our Political Economy Teach-in Series: “Organizing for Rights: Reproductive Justice in Praxis” with Nana Abuelsoud.
This session unpacked the organizing history that brought the reproductive justice framework to life. It explored the theoretical pillars that have anchored transnational organizing for bodily autonomy and reproductive freedoms, both in the past and today. Join us to engage with Global South perspectives on what reproductive justice can mean in today’s global economy and in the context of population control and modern eugenicist practices.
Nana Abuelsoud is a feminist and population policy researcher in Egypt. She is a member of Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Justice (RESURJ) and serves on the Advisory Board of The A Project in Lebanon. She is also a member of AWID’s Board of Directors and sits on Mama Cash’s participatory grantmaking Community Committee. Previously, she was affiliated with the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, Ikhtyar Feminist Collective, and the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research.
Our South Feminist Political Economy Teach-in Series aims to strengthen intergenerational dialogue and build a cross-regional feminist constituency. The series covers various topics to interrogate and strengthen understanding of issues shaping conditions in the Global South.
We have curated a special reading list of resources on the topic of this session, available on our South Feminist Knowledge Hub. It is designed to deepen your understanding of the themes and inspire meaningful discussion – featuring powerful contributions from authors and thinkers across the Global South.
